Fairly Important Information:

Preparing for your adventure with Adventures with Cara & Dory?

There are a few site-specific points of note, but here is our packing guide!

Time to get excited! What to pack....

What are the top three essential items people often forget?

sunscreen!! !!! even cloudy days will burn skin thats been covered up all fall and winter up north!

a yoga towel for added comfort on your mat

and remember to pack light—you'll likely need less than you think!

What kind of weather conditions should people prepare for?

Expect warm/hot, sunny weather. We recommend loose-fitting, easy-to-wear clothes and coverups, bathing suits, and comfortable yoga attire. Bring a pair of shoes suitable for walking (hiking or biking) and a pair for the boat or pool—though you might find yourself barefoot most of the time!

And one outfit that makes you feel like a Queen/ King!

Are there any items that are not allowed or discouraged?

For safety reasons, regular cameras, binoculars, and similar items with lenses are not permitted. We provide yoga mats and beach towels, so you don't need to bring them, but a thin yoga towel is a good idea. We highly recommend not checking a bag to keep transportation simple!

Dominican Specific:

The walkways between the tree houses are wooden and strung in the air. This is worth thinking about, and that there are bikes to ride to the beach when thinking about packing footwear.

Money etc.

For all of our Adventures we want to make sure the people who cook and clean and care for us all week are tipped well. We want to make sure the guides, the surf instructors, and the all the people that treat us like like family and friends are well taken care of. So we include tipping in our cost for the trip.

However. Additional tipping is great. And if you want anything additional, it is great to bring cash to pay for it.

Massages. Trinkets. Alcohol. Etc.

Everyone will have a tab at the end of the trip for extras you have accrued.

There will also be a few stops at gas stations for snacks/libations (on the road from the airport to the retreat space in Nicaragua) and there are several shops and beach side restaurants/bars near the Tree Houses in the Dominican.

When entering Nicaragua you will need $10 cash for immigration.

Nicaragua Specific:

We (highly) recommend bathing suits that will stay put on your body. The ocean is incredible and the water warm enough to not need anything but your normal suit, but waves are consistant and will try and take your clothes with them.

We walk to the beach to swim and surf, it is not far but it is over volcanic rock (which is soooo cool!). So make sure you are ready with your footwear.
